For those of you following by the numbers, Geoffrey Mutai won this year's race, setting a record time of 2:03:02 - this beats the previous record by almost a full minute! That's effing FAST! Unfortunately for Mutai, even though his time is the fastest marathon ever run, it does not qualify him for a world record. The Boston Marathon does not qualify as a 'record eligible' course. I'd say that must suck for him, but really, he just won a freakin' marathon, that in itself probably cuts it for him just fine! Our own American runner Ryan Hall ended up finishing 4th with a time of 2:04:58, setting a U.S. record finish time.
